A Message from Gemma.

Went to meet the vet yesterday. She took an ultrasound of Montana's left ankle. She said the operation would be to hard on him and he may not make it through surgery.

She prescribed pain meds twice a day to keep him comfortable. Its a matter of time, before he will have to be euthenized, but she didn't know the time. He may last a year or so.

The ligaments in is ankle are similar to a very weak and frayed rubberband. I don't know if you can see his left ankle in the video but it is very large due to the scar tissue that has built up. The vet said that his is his body's way of protecting his joint.

It was freezing when we took these videos. The wind chill had to be a gazillion degrees below zero.

He has gained about 75 pounds since we got him but you can still see his ribs even through his thick winter coat. We're going to take him to our farm as soon as Will can get the trailer up our drive.

The vet and the trainer both said that he would not have made it through the winter if we hadn't rescued him.
She said he would have died a horrible death, at least this way he will be treated and cared for humanely.
